Causing damage to your car's bumper can be frustrating, but your insurance company will likely cover the cost to repair or replace the bumper as long as you have the proper coverage options. Generally, insurance will cover bumper repair or replacement as long as you have full coverage.

Filing an insurance claim for bumper damage can be the right decision to make depending on the severity of the damage, your insurance deductible, and the overall condition of your vehicle. If your car's damage is minimal and you were the cause of the damage, it may not make sense to file a claim as paying cash may save you money.

When you file a claim for an at-fault accident, it's likely your insurance rates will increase. If there is $500 worth of damage to your vehicle, you are most likely better off paying for the repairs out of pocket, as almost all insurance increases will be more than $500 annually.

Insurance will pay to repair or replace the bumper depending on how damaged the vehicle’s bumper is. Minor bumper repairs can be $500 to $1500 while major bumper repair jobs with more severe damage can cost thousands of dollars.

If you were involved in an auto accident and were not at fault, the other driver will be liable for your damages. If you were able to obtain the other driver’s insurance information, your best option would be to take your vehicle into an auto body shop for repairs. An experienced shop will be able to handle the insurance claim process so you won’t have to deal with anything you don’t want to. Having your bumper repaired can be costly, but if you were not at fault it usually makes sense to go through the other person’s insurance.

Reporting your vehicle’s damage to your insurance company will not be necessary unless you will be making a claim. You only need to report your vehicle’s damage to our insurance company if you are going to be making a claim for damages through your own insurance company.

Going through insurance for a bumper if you were at fault for the accident or you just struck your car into an object, it doesn’t always make sense to go through insurance. If the cost of repairs is minor and there is no structural damage to your car, paying cash for repairs is usually a better option, as you don’t have to deal with insurance rate increases.

Aside from an insurance rate increase, you may have a deductible which may be higher or equal to the cost of repair. Even if you were involved in an accident and it was your fault, reach out to us and we’ll be happy to see how we could help.

Farmers Insurance is one of the major insurance carriers across America. If you have Farmers insurance and have full coverage, your front bumper repair will be covered. Farmers, like any other insurance company has different coverage options. If you selected the collision and comprehensive coverage options when signing up for your insurance policy, Farmers will pay for the repairs to your vehicle even if you were at fault for the accident or the accident was out of your control, such as a flood, hit and run, or other random act of nature.

If you were driving and you hit a curb, causing your bumper to pull off, you should definitely have your vehicle checked out by a professional body shop. Striking a curb with enough force to cause your bumper to get pulled off may have lead to some serious damage to your vehicle. If you have collision coverage, your bumper being pulled off by a curb will be covered by your insurance. If the damages are minor, it may not make sense to file a claim. If the damages are severe, filing a claim may be your best option to keep costs reasonable.
